MURRAY, Ky. – The women's basketball team cut a 13-point deficit to two, but fell at Murray State, 75-68, on Saturday in Murray, Kentucky.

A jumper by Ke'Shunan James with one minute left in the second quarter gave the Racers a 46-33 advantage. However, the Colonels scored the final four points before intermission to begin a 13-2 run to get within one basket.Â
A'Queen Hayes hit a jumper with one second left in the first half to make it 46-37 at the break.Â

Abby Wright's three-pointer midway through the third quarter capped the run and got EKU within 48-46. Murray State answered by stringing together a 10-3 run to go in front by 11, 62-51, with 9:24 left in the game. The Colonels never got closer than six the rest of the way.

Hayes recorded her fifth double-double in the last eight games, finishing with 25 points and 11 rebounds. She made 10-of-15 shot attempts, had three assists and three steals. Wright scored 21 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field, including 3-of-5 from behind the arc. She grabbed seven boards.

James led Murray State (8-13, 4-6 OVC) with 25 points and eight rebounds. Bria Bethea had 19 points.

Eastern Kentucky (7-12, 4-6 OVC) begins a four-game home stand on Thursday when Belmont visits McBrayer Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
