EKU Volleyball Team Goes On The Road To Face EIU And SIUE

RICHMOND, Ky.- The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team will go back on the road to face off against a pair of Ohio Valley Conference foes in Eastern Illinois University on Friday and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Saturday. 

Friday's match against the Panthers is set for 8 p.m. in Charleston, Illinois, and Saturday's match against the Cougars will be an afternoon match at 3 p.m. in Edwardsville, Illinois.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: 
- The Colonels (3-17, 2-6 OVC) dropped matches against UT Martin and Southeast Missouri last weekend. 
Cassie Knutson leads the Colonel offence with 242 kills. 
Chloe Rojas is anchoring the back court with 330 digs on the year. 
- Knutson had a team-best 11 kills in the match against SEMO.  
- Rojas was the third Colonel to take Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors following the 2017 campaign. 
- Rojas and Knutson were each named to the preseason all-conference team. 
- Head Coach Lori Duncan is in her 21st and final season. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: 

Eastern Illinois University: 
- The Panthers (7-16, 2-6 OVC) return home after splitting their last weekend series with a three-set sweep of Jacksonville State and a five-set loss to Tennessee Tech. 
- Lauren Bailey leads the Panther offence with 231 kills.   
- Anne Hughes leads the defensive charge with 426 digs.  
- Head Coach Julie Allen is in her first season with the Panthers.  

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville: 
- The Cougars (4-16, 3-5 OVC) return to Edwardsville after dropping four straight conference matches on the road. 
- Rachel McDonald is leading the Cougars on both sides of the ball with 194 kills and 217 digs.  
- Head Coach Kendall Paulus is in the midst of her first full season leading the Cougars.  

WHATS NEXT: 
- The Colonels will travel to Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech before returning home on Halloween to face conference rival Morehead State.
