RICHMOND, Ky. – Cassie Knutson collected a triple double with 16 kills, 15 digs, and 13 assists for the Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team on Saturday against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, but EKU fell short on the road by a score of 3-1.

The Cougars won by scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-27 and 25-20.

Rachel Woody had a team-high with 18 digs and 17 assists.
Chloe Rojas chipped in 15 digs of her own.

The two teams traded points early in the third set before SIUE used a 4-0 run to push its lead to 7-3. EKU made a run of its own when the Colonels used a 4-0 run to cut into the Cougar lead to 14-13 after a ball handling error. The two teams traded points throughout the rest of the set, until Eastern ran off three straight points to take the third set 27-25.

EKU led early in set number four, 7-6, before SIUE went on a 5-0 run to take an 11-7 lead after an attack error by the Colonels. EKU answered right back with a run of its own to tie the match at 11-11. The Cougars went up 15-14 in the final stanza after an attack error and did not give up the lead the rest of the set.

Rachel McDonald and Jordyn Klein each had a match-high 19 digs for the Cougars. Hope Everett led them with 12 kills.

Eastern Kentucky moves to 3-19 on the year with a 2-8 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference while SIUE improves 6-16 with a 5-5 mark in conference play.

The Colonels return to the court Oct. 26, when they travel to Jacksonville State.
