RICHMOND, Ky. – Katelyn Caserma-Kloeble had a career-high 17 kills as Eastern Kentucky knocked off Tennessee Tech on the road Saturday.
 
The Colonels won by scores of 25-23, 22-25, 25-18, 20-25 and 15-12.
 
Cassie Knutson pitched in with 17 kills and seven assists. Anna Cvelbar had a career day as well as the freshman had a career-high 31 assists to lead the Colonels. 
Chloe Rojas had a match-high 22 digs. While 
Kennedy Wilson pitched in 14 digs as well.
 
The Colonels used a 5-1 run early in the fifth set to take charge and not look back. Leading 13-9 in the fifth, the Golden Eagles ran off three straight points to cut into the Colonel lead. EKU came out of a timeout and put the match away scoring two straight points ending with a 
Lindsey Wilkins kill.
 
EKU jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in stanza number one after a kill by Knutson. That is when Tech used a 3-0 run of its own to tie the set at 4-4. The two teams would go back and forth as the stanza became a game of runs. Tech used a 4-0 spurt to take a 23-22 late, before EKU ended the set on a 3-0 run to claim the first stanza 25-23.
 
Tennessee Tech jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in the third set, before EKU flexed its muscles with four straight kills, ending with Wilkins, to take a 7-6 lead. Tech would respond though with its own 4-0 run to retake a 10-7 lead in stanza number three. The Colonels used an 8-2 run in the middle of the set that ended with a kill by Kaitlyn Johnson to go ahead 15-12 and did not look back. EKU would win seven of the last nine points in the set to take it 25-18.
 
Ali Verzan led the way for the Golden Eagles as she had a match-high 20 kills. Susie Jeziorowski had a match-best 50 assists for Tennessee Tech.
 
EKU improves to 4-20 on the year with a 3-9 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference while TTU falls to 9-17 with a 3-9 mark in conference play.
 
The Colonels return to the court Wednesday to take on in-state rival Morehead State at home. The match will start at 6 p.m. ET.
