BEAUMONT, Texas – Destinee Lizzmore and Paige Murphy each hit .500 at the plate as the Eastern Kentucky University softball team fell to Lamar University in a seventh inning rally.

Lizzmore singled to start the third inning for the Colonels. Johnkyria Alston cranked a triple to left center to push the run across, putting EKU on the board first, 1-0.

Eastern added to the lead after the Cardinals issued a pair of walks and an error to plate Emily Corbitt, 2-0.

The Colonels held onto the lead until the bottom of the seventh inning when the first three batters for Lamar singled to load the bases. A fielder's choice drew the home team within one, 2-1. An error tied the game.

Kelly Meeuwsen hit a walk-off single to claim the game, 3-2.

Lamar improves to 12-12 on the season while EKU drops to 16-6.

The Colonels return to the diamond tomorrow for a 3 p.m. contest at Houston Baptist.
