RICHMOND, Ky. – Johnkyria Alston's walk-off single down the right field line in the eighth inning secured a pair of wins for the Eastern Kentucky University softball team over Murray State University Friday afternoon at Gertrude Hood Field.
Destinee Lizzmore hit a two-out double to right center in the bottom of the eighth. Paige Murphy followed by getting on base via the walk.
Alston fell behind in the count, 0-2, before roping the next ball down the right field line, just fair, to bring home Lizzmore and win the game.
Emily Corbitt singled in the second inning to bring home Hannah Clark, putting EKU on the board first.
The Colonels added to it in the bottom of the third with a solo shot from Murphy.
Logan Braundmeier and Lillie Goetz hit back-to-back bombs in the fifth inning to tie the score up at 2-2.
Murray brought one more around in the top of the sixth to go ahead, 3-2.
Lizzmore collected a clutch round-tripper of her own to knot the contest again.
Mollie Paulick received the game two win after throwing just an inning as Eastern Kentucky regained the lead.
Lizzmore went 2-for-4 in game one to lead the Colonels.

In game one Murray State pulled ahead, 3-1, after plating two on three hits in the fifth inning.
Carly Robinson roped a solo shot to right center to pull the Colonels within one, 3-2.
After holding the Racers at bay in the top of the sixth, Murphy singled to get things going for the Colonels. Zoe Mihalicz and Corbitt each collected hits, bringing the senior home, 3-3.
Robinson was hit-by-pitch to load the bases. A wild pitch brought in the winning run, 4-3.
Murphy and Mihalicz each went 2-for-3 while Robinson hit 1.000.
Murphy McRoberts (4-1) picked up the game one victory after throwing six innings and giving up just two hits.
After the victories, EKU moves to 19-10 (2-0 OVC) while Murray State falls to 9-20 (0-2 OVC).
The Colonels are back in action Sunday as they take on Austin Peay State in a twin bill at Gertrude Hood Field. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
