Colonels Drop Road Game At East Tennessee

Box Score

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. –
Eastern Kentucky lost at East Tennessee State, 12-7, on Wednesday.

The Colonels (5-8) erased a 3-0 deficit by scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning.  With the bases loaded, two runs scored when the ETSU second baseman made a throwing error on a ground ball by Daniel Harris IV.  A sacrifice bunt by Chris Botsoe made it a 3-3 game.  Before the last out of the inning was made on a pick-off play, Harris scored from third to put Eastern on top 4-3.

The Bucs answered with six runs in the bottom of the fourth, part of nine unanswered in the fourth, fifth and six innings combined.

The Colonels scored three runs in the top of the ninth to cut into the ETSU lead.  Ryland Kerr's RBI single up the middle, Will Johnson's bases loaded walk, and a sacrifice fly from Jake Lewis in the top of the ninth set the final score.

Kerr finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.  Nick Howie also had two hits and scored a run.  Johnson drew three walks in the game.
