RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team was edged, 1-0, by the No. 20 University of Kentucky Tuesday night at Gertrude Hood Field.
In the bottom of the seventh, freshman Zoe Mihalicz roped a one-out double to right center. Emily Corbitt walked to put two on, but Kentucky turned a double play on the next batter to call game.
The Wildcats plated their lone run on a single from Katie Reed in the second.
Mollie Paulick notched a hit for the Colonels, going 1-of-2 on the day.
Kentucky was led by Reed, who notched two hits and owned the lone run batted in.
Erin Rethlake (7-3) notched the win after tossing the entirety of the game for UK.
After the loss, EKU falls to 22-13 while Kentucky improves to 25-11.
