Softball Set To Host A Pair Of League Twin Bills This Weekend

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The Eastern Kentucky University softball team is set to host a pair of Ohio Valley Conference twin bills this weekend, welcoming in Tennessee State and Belmont University.
 
EKU will take on TSU on Friday starting at 3 p.m. and Belmont on Sunday with game one at 1 p.m.
 
EKU Softball pop-sockets will be given away prior to Friday's contest.
 
LAST TIME OUT
 
-EKU (23-14, 5-1 OVC) split games with Western Kentucky on Tuesday, dropping game one, 6-3, but taking game two, 8-4.
 
-Brooke Harrison collected her first collegiate home run while Hannah Clark and Paige Murphy each blasted two. The squad broke the single-season home run record, previously set at 47.
 
-Murphy continues to lead EKU offensively with a .432 mark on the season and a .526 average in league play. The senior has racked up nine doubles, a triple and 12 round-trippers.
 
-Mollie Paulick (9-5) leads the pitching staff with a 2.52 earned run average.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

-Tennessee State comes into the contest with 3-36 (0-10 OVC) mark on the year.
 
-Sarah Snell leads the Tigers in the batter's box with a .287 average.
 
-The pitching staff is led by Lauren Powell, who holds a 4.76 ERA.
 
 
BELMONT
 
-The Bruins are 21-13 on the season, but just 2-7 in league action. Most recently BU has dropped games to Ole Miss and Middle Tennessee.
 
-Lexi Rouse leads the hitting corps with a .376 average while Brooklin Lee is tossing just a 1.52 ERA.
