RICHMOND, Ky. – Parth Aggarwal won the deciding match at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4, to clinch the match for the Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team over Austin Peay State University, 4-3, Friday afternoon at the Tom Higgins Outdoor Tennis Courts.
After dropping the doubles point, Nicolas Castaldo and Carlos Dodero responded by taking their singles matches at No. 5 and 6, respectively. Castaldo won 6-2, 6-0, while Dodero claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win.
APSU went on to take the No. 1 singles match to even the score at 2-2.
Gabriel Ruiz won convincingly at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-4, but the Governors came right back, taking No. 3 singles, 6-4, 7-5.
After the victory the Colonels improve to 7-18 (3-3 OVC) while Austin Peay falls to 2-15 (1-3 OVC).
The men will be back in action next weekend at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. Dates and times are to be announced.
