OXFORD, Ala. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team fell to Jacksonville State University Friday afternoon in the semifinal game of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, 7-1, at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama.

The Gamecocks plated two in the fourth frame after a two-run jack from Taylor Beshears to go up 2-0.

JSU stayed hot in the fifth, notching three runs on three hits to extend its lead to 5-0. It piled on two more in the sixth stanza, putting EKU in a 7-0 hole.

Eastern attempted to stage a two-out comeback in the bottom of the sixth, starting with a
Zoe Mihalicz double.
Carly Robinson roped a single to left field to plate the freshman and make it 7-1.

Brooke Harrison collected a single to put runners on the corners, but EKU was unable to push them across.

Eastern Kentucky moves to 39-17 while JSU improves to 32-23. Â

The Colonels fall to the bottom bracket and will play No. 2 seed Austin Peay Saturday at 11 a.m. ET. Should EKU win, it will move on to the championship game but have to win twice.
