Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale at SIUE

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team fell at SIUE, 3-0, on Thursday night in its regular season finale at Korte Stadium.
 
SIUE (7-5-4, 4-2-3) jumped on top early, as the Cougars' top scorer Mackenzie Litzsinger buried a goal in the seventh minute. Courtney Benning added another first-half goal in the 20th minute.
 
Litzsinger scored her second goal of the night in the 58th minute to put the game out of reach.
 
EKU (4-12-2, 2-6-2 OVC) attempted 10 shots in the game, six of which were on frame,. Senior Monica Rios paced the Colonels with three shots, while juniors Katie Shaffer and Kylie Thompson both fired two.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Zoe Aguirre made three saves in net.
 
EKU will now have to wait for this weekend's conference results to see if it has qualified for the OVC Tournament.
