RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky rolled to a 113-63 victory over Berea College on Thursday in the Colonels' lone exhibition game.
The season officially begins for EKU on Tuesday at home when Chattanooga visits McBrayer Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Six players scored in double figures for the Colonels, led by 19 each from
Jomaru Brown and
Lachlan Anderson. Brown hit on 7-of-16 from the field and had four steals. Anderson was 7-of-13 from the field, including 3-for-6 from behind the arc, and grabbed a game-best 11 rebounds.
Eastern scored the first nine points of the game on its way to an early 30-7 lead. The quick start was highlighted by a baseline reverse lay-up from
Jomaru Brown to put the Colonels in front 18-5.
Houston King followed with a three-pointer from the top of the key. The sophomore then came up with a steal and knocked down another trey to make it 24-5.

Tariq Balogun put in a basket to finish off the first half and send EKU to the locker room with a 54-21 lead.
Brown and King both had 12 first half points. Berea started 1-for-10 from the field and made just 8-of-35 in the first half (23 percent). Eastern Kentucky shot 40 percent from the field in the first half and out-rebounded the Mountaineers by 12.
The Colonels scored the first six points of the second half to go in front by 39, 60-21. Berea answered with its best offensive stretch of the game, out-scoring Eastern 15-5 to shave 10 points off the lead, 65-36, with 16:01 to go.
Eastern Kentucky was ahead by 33 when it went on a 19-2 run fueled by a Moreno three-pointer and lay-up.
Russhard Cruickshank's jumper capped the run and made it a 50-point game, 92-42. EKU's largest lead of 52, 96-44, came on a steal and lay-up by
JacQuess Hobbs with 8:56 to play in the game.
The Colonels shot 45 percent for the game, out-rebounded Berea 57-43 and turned 25 Mountaineer turnovers into 36 points.
