RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University soccer head coach
Matt Cosinuke announced his first signing class on Thursday.
"We are excited to welcome our new family members," Cosinuke said. "They are all high character individuals and driven students. This class adds talent, athleticism and more competition as we pursue our goals of OVC championships and NCAA Tournament berths."
Hailey Barfuss
Barfuss is a forward out of Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth, Ohio. She is a four-time scholar athlete and honor roll recipient. She was an ODP/ECNL player, and received the honors of all-county, all-district, and all-conference.
Barfuss plays club soccer with the Cleveland Internationals ECNL.
Mackenzie Burdick
Burdick is a defender out of Anderson High School in Cincinnati. As a sophomore, she earned first team All-GCL honors, as well as All-Southwest Ohio and second team all-city honors.
Burdick also played basketball and was named honorable mention All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference (ECC) as a junior.
Kylee Evans
Evans is a defender out of Moon Area High School in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. She was the starting center back on a Moon Area High team that won back-to-back section, WPIAL, and state championships in 2016 and 2017. Evans also won a 2019 State Cup Championship and was a Regional finalist with her club team, Beading South Red.
Evans chose EKU over Stetson.
Kylie Fitzgerald
Fitzgerald is a forward out of Olmsted Falls High School in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. She was a four-year starter for the Bulldogs and was captain during her junior and senior years. Fitzgerald received the honors of first team all-conference and second team all-Greater Cleveland her junior year.
Fitzgerald plays club soccer with Cleveland F.C.
She chose EKU over Indiana State, Purdue Fort Wayne, Austin Peay, and Slippery Rock.
Deja Griffin
Griffin is a defender out of L&N STEM Academy in Knoxville, Tennessee. She plays club with F.C. Alliance, and was a member of the club's first team to win a game at ECNL National Playoffs.
Griffin also ran cross country in high school, placing second at the Regional meet as a junior.
Griffin chose EKU over Kennesaw State.
Kara Haas
Haas is a defender out of Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was four-year starter in the midfield for the Sandcrabs. Haas was named Rookie of the Year as a freshman. She also led the squad in goals and assists her junior season.
Haas plays club soccer with Orlando City ECNL.
She chose EKU over Kentucky and the Florida Institute of Technology.
Lydia Jervier
Jervier is a defender out of Wyoming High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. She recorded 60 career goals and 30 career assists at Wyoming. Jervier was also a member of the U.S. National Futsal Team from 2014 to 2016. She was a member of the All-Cincinnati Hills League 2
nd Team in 2016 and 2017 and 1
st team in 2018 and 2019.
Jervier plays club soccer with Ohio Elite ECNL.
She chose EKU over Xavier, Morehead State, Illinois-Chicago, Purdue, Lourdes University, Ohio Northern, and Ohio Wesleyan.
Gabi Reising
Reising is a forward out of Stephen T. Badin High School in Okeana, Ohio. She was voted the team's Offensive MVP as a senior. She also received the 4.0 Achievement Award.
Reising plays club soccer with Total Futbol Academy. Her club squad advanced to nationals and placed eighth.
She chose EKU over Cincinnati.
Shae Robertson
Robertson is a midfielder / forward out of Tates Creek High School in Lexington, Kentucky. She was a member of Tates Creek's 2018 state championship team, and she has been voted first team all-state, all-region and all-city. Robertson was recently named the 2019 Lexington Player of the Year by the Herald-Leader .
Robertson plays club soccer with Lexington F.C.
She choose EKU over several in-state rivals, such as Murray State, Western Kentucky, and Morehead State, along with Ohio and Mississippi State.
Josie Sanders
Sanders is a midfielder out of Canal Winchester High School in Canal Winchester, Ohio. She helped lead her high school squad to a conference championship in 2019.
Sanders plays club soccer with Barcelona United.
She chose EKU over Ohio Dominican and Xavier.
Gabby Torrez
Torrez is a defender out of Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was a member of the 2018 Indiana Class 3a State Runner-up and Indiana Presidents Cup Champion squads. She was also a two-time team captain for the Spartans.
Torrez plays club soccer with FWSC 01 Mainz.
She chose EKU over the University of Saint Francis and Purdue-Fort Wayne.
Allison Vaughn
Vaugh is a midfielder out of McNicholas High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. She won a district championship and was voted first team All-Greater Catholic League (GCL) as a senior. She was a member of the four-time Kentucky State Cup Champion squad and the District Championship and Ohio State Cup Champion teams.
Vaugh plays club soccer with the Cincinnati Development Academy, with whom she won four Kentucky State Cup championships and an Ohio State Cup championship.
Katie Wall
Wall is a forward out of Harbor Creek High School in Erie, Pennsylvania. She was a four-year varsity starter and two year captain for the Huskies. She led her team in goals and assists as a sophomore. While earning all-region and all-district honors.
Wall plays club soccer with the Western New York Flash ECNL.
She chose EKU over New Hampshire and American University.
