EKU Volleyball Falls To Jacksonville State Friday Night At Home

RICHMOND, Ky.. –
The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team fell in four sets Friday night against Jacksonville State.
 
The Colonels lost 26-28, 23-25, 25-22 and 22-25.
 
Three Colonels Abby Noll, Jovana Bulatovic and Adria Hartley recorded double-digit kills and Rachel Woody posted a match-high 45 assists.
 
Eastern jumped out to an early 12-7 lead in the opening set after the kill by Abby Noll. The Gamecocks answered back with a 7-0 run capped off by an EKU attack error to take a 14-12 lead in the set. The two teams kept trading runs until the set was tied 26-26 after the Sydney Schoen service ace. JSU scored the final two points of the set to take the opening set 28-26.
 
In set two, he two teams traded points the entire set and the set was tied 17 times with no one leading by as many as three points the entire set. After a Kaylin Johnson kill made the score 22-21 in favor of EKU, the Gamecocks scored the last four points of the set to take the set 25-22 and a 2-0 lead.
 
In set three, the two teams traded points until JSU took a 13-11 lead after the kill by Kaylee Frear.  Eastern answered back though and again we were tied 22-22 in the third. This time the Colonels closed the set on a 3-0 run to take the set 25-22.
 
Jacksonville State used a big start in the fourth set to take a 17-10 lead and force a Colonel timeout. Eastern did not go down without a fight. The Colonels used a 6-0 run after the JSU attack error to get back into the set 17-16. The Colonels again cut the lead to 22-21 after the kill by Noll, but JSU scored three of the last four points to take the set 25-22 and win the match.
 
Lena Kindermann and Sadie Anderson paced the Gamecocks offense with 12 kills a piece.
 
Eastern plays at home tomorrow for Senior Day when the Colonels take on Tennessee Tech. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
