Colonels Set for Tough Road Test at No. 1 Louisville on Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball team will head west on I-64 to face No. 1 Louisville on Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center. Tip is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET.
 
The game will air live on the ACC Network. The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO-100.7 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
 
WHAT TO KNOW
 
EKU (3-6) forced Northern Kentucky into 21 turnovers last Sunday. The Colonels rank second in the country in turnovers forced-per-game. (21.8). Eastern ranks fourth in the country in steals-per-game (11.0).
 
The Colonels lead the OVC in turnover margin (+4.9) and three-point field goal percentage defense (28.9%). They rank second in the conference in free throw percentage (73.9%) and three-pointers/game (8.9).
 
Three Colonels rank in the top-10 in the OVC in steals/game: Russhard Cruickshank (4th / 2.0), JacQuess Hobbs (4th / 2.0) and Jomaru Brown (8th  / 1 .6).
 
If you remove the season opener from the equation, JacQuess Hobbs has a 3.3 assist/turnover (23/7) ratio this season, which would lead the OVC.
 
Sophomore forward Tre King shot 68% from the free throw line last year. This year, he ranks fourth in the OVC from the stripe at 87% (20-of-23).
 
Grad transfer Ty Taylor ranks fourth in the OVC in three-pointers/game (2.7). He is shooting 44.4% from beyond the arc over EKU's last four games.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Louisville (9-1, 2-0 ACC) suffered its first loss of the season to Texas Tech, 70-57, on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.
 
Jordan Nwora paces the Cardinals at 20.8 points-per-game this season.
 
This is the 72nd all-time meeting between EKU and Louisville. The Cardinals lead the series, 49-22. Eastern's  last win over Louisville came on Dec. 4, 1963 - a 78-65 victory in the first-ever game played at McBrayer Arena.

EKU stays on the road next week, traveling east on I-64 to face Marshall on Tuesday in Huntington, West Virginia. Tip for that game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
