Colonels Head to Huntington to Face Marshall on Thursday Night

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball team will travel to Huntington, West Virginia to face Marshall on Thursday. Tip from the Cam Henderson Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
The game will stream live on ESPN3. The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO-100.7 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
 
WHAT TO KNOW
 
The Colonels (3-7) won the turnover battle at No. 1 Louisville last Saturday, 16-14. EKU ranks second in the country in turnovers forced-per-game (21.2) and fourth in steals-per-game (10.7).
 
EKU shot 80% (12-of-15) from the stripe at Louisville and now leads the OVC in free throw percentage (74.4%). Forward Tre King was 6-of-6 from the line at UL and currently ranks second in the league at 89.7%.
 
If you remove the season opener from the equation, JacQuess Hobbs has a 3.6 assist/turnover (25/7) ratio this season, which would lead the OVC.
 
Grad transfer Ty Taylor ranks second in the OVC in three-pointers/game (2.7). He is shooting 44% from beyond the arc over EKU's last five games. He has scored in double figures in six straight games.
 
A.W. Hamilton played at Marshall from 2002-05. He ranks 13th all-time at the school in three-point field goal percentage (38.6), 11th in assists (411) and 23rd in steals (107).
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Marshall (4-6) has won two straight, including a resounding 89-62 victory at Morehead State on Monday.
 
Jarrod West paces the Thundering Herd at 14.7 points-per-game.
 
This is the 44th all-time meeting between EKU and Marshall. The Colonels lead the series, 23-20, but have lost two straight to the Thundering Herd. Eastern 's last win in the series was an 89-80 victory on December 3, 2016.
 
EKU's last win over Marshall in Huntington came all the way back on March 3, 1965 (94-92).
