RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team travels to Conway, South Carolina for the Battle at the Beach hosted by Coastal Carolina.
The Colonels will play five games over the weekend. EKU opens up with a pair of contests on Friday, taking on Marshall at 9:30 a.m., followed with Presbyterian College at 11:45 a.m. Saturday they open up with Towson at 9:30 a.m., followed by Marshall at 4:15 p.m. They wrap up their weekend trip playing host Costal Carolina Sunday at 1:15 p.m.
Inside the Series
-Marshall leads the all-time series 18-7. The last meeting between the two teams was in 2017, where Marshall won 7-2. The Herd went 4-1, during their opening weekend in San Diego.
-The Colonels second opponent on the weekend is Presbyterian College. EKU leads the all-time series 1-0, with the loan contest coming in 2017. EKU won that game 4-2. The Blue Hose opened the season 2-0-2.
-EKU will see a familiar face with its third opponent in Townson. The two teams met three times last year in the post season, with EKU winning 2-of-3. Townson went 2-2 to open the season at USC Upstate.
-Eastern wraps up its weekend playing host Coastal Carolina. The two teams have only met one time prior in 2010. Coastal leads the all-time series 1-0. The Chanticleers opened their season 4-1.
What EKU Brings:
-EKU opened its season at Elon, North Carolina where the Colonels went 1-3 in the tournament.
-The Colonels rallied from down 4-0, to score five straight runs and take a 5-4 lead. They would eventually win in 10 innings 7-6 over Appalachian State.

Sammi Miller led the way offensively for the Colonels, posting a team-best .563 batting average with one double and nine hits.

Destinee Lizzmore showed off her power, posting a .400 batting average with three home runs, two doubles, and five RBIs on the weekend.

Samantha Reynoso picked up the lone win on the mound for the Colonels. She posted a 3.50 ERA over six innings while striking out six.
EKU returns to the field next weekend at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee. First pitch is Friday against Evansville at 1:30 p.m.
