Abby Wright Scores 12 Points In Loss At Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. –
Abby Wright scored a team-high 12 points and grabbed three rebounds, but Eastern fell to Tennessee Tech, 77-57, Thursday in Cookeville.
 
TTU (19-7, 11-4 OVC) used a 25-2 run to start the third quarter to build a 65-40 lead and did not look back.
 
The Golden Eagles got off to a hot start hitting their first three 3-pointers to take a 9-0 lead with 8:54 to go in the first quarter.  EKU (2-24, 0-15 OVC) used a 10-0 run capped by a jumper from Shay Solomon to tie the game at 15-15, with 4:11 in the first period.
 
Tech knocked down six three-pointers in the first quarter.
 
The two teams traded baskets for much of the second quarter, and EKU went into the half trailing 38-34.
 
Teri Goodlett chipped in 12 points and four rebounds. Shay Solomon went for eight points and four rebounds.
 
Kentoria Alexander had a game-high 16 points with four rebounds for Tech.  Akia Harris chipped in 15 points and six assists.  Lacy Cantrell had 11 points and six rebounds off the bench.
 
EKU shot 42 percent from the field while Tennessee Tech shot 51 percent.  EKU out rebounded Tech 32-30 on the contest.
 
The Golden Eagles made 11 threes in the game.  EKU made three.
 
Eastern returns to the court Saturday when the Colonels travel to Jacksonville, Alabama to take on Jacksonville State. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
