Box Score

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky suffered a 6-4 defeat to Boston College at Earle Combs Stadium on Friday.

Jake Alu broke a 3-3 tie with a three-run home run for the Eagles (5-3) in the top of the sixth inning.

Michael Brewer got Eastern (6-4) on the board when he led off the bottom of the third with his first collegiate home run.  The solo shot over the wall in right field made it a 2-1 game.  His single through the right side, and a run-scoring ground ball by A.J. Lewis, tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth.

Brewer finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.

Alu's only hit was the home run.  He finished 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and three RBIs.  Sal Frelick was 3-for-5 with a run and two RBIs.

"That was good Friday night baseball from two good teams," EKU Head Coach Edwin Thompson said.  "They had the big three run home run to separate themselves and that was really the difference.  They did a good job of keeping us off balance with how many stolen bases they had.  They did a good job putting pressure on us.  Offensively, we had a couple of innings where we put some pressure on them and we scored some runs.  We had the tying run on base in the ninth inning, that's all you can ask for.  I thought Logan Teague had a good start.  This was one of those days where they come out on top but we've got two games tomorrow so we're excited to get back out here."

The weekend of baseball action will conclude with three games on Saturday.  Action begins with Evansville taking on Eastern Kentucky at 10 a.m.  BC and Evansville will play at 2 p.m.  Boston College and EKU will finish the day at 6 p.m.
