EKU Softball Hosts Dayton For Its Home Opener

RICHMOND, Ky. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University softball team plays its home opener Wednesday against the University of Dayton.
 
First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., with game two of the doubleheader starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
 
Inside the Series
-The two teams have met 32 times prior to Wednesday's games.
 
-The series is tied 16-16 all-time.
 
-The last meeting was in 2017. The two teams split a pair of contests.
 
What EKU Brings:
-EKU comes into the weekend at 7-8 and riding a four game winning streak, after having a pair of games canceled against Bradley on Saturday.
 
-Sammi Miller leads the team with a .392 batting average on the year. She has two doubles, one triple and a team-best six stolen bases.
 
-Senior Hannah Clark continues her tear at the plate. After hitting .450 with three doubles, one home run and six RBIs in five games last week.
 
-Samantha Reynoso is 4-1 on the year with a team-best 2.38 ERA.
 
-Mollie Paulick went 2-0 on the week with a 0.50 ERA. She tossed 14 innings and struck a team-high 19 batters.    
 
-Eastern ranks 24th in the county in home runs per game.
 
Scouting the Opponent:
-The Flyers come into the contest at 7-9 after going 0-4 at the Colorado State Classic last weekend.  
 
-Kyle Davidson has a team-high .415 batting average with four doubles, two home run and 10 RBIs.
 
-Dayton is led in the circle by Jessica Gilliam who has a team-best 3.82 ERA. She is 3-4 on the year with 23 strikeouts over 36 and two-third innings pitched.
 
-The Flyers rank 22nd in the country in stolen bases per game. 
 
EKU returns to the field on Friday when the Colonels travel to Wilmington, North Carolina for the Lafayette Ford Lincoln of Fayetteville Seahawk Softball Invitational. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. against host UNC Wilmington.
