RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team travels to Wilmington, North Carolina to compete in the Lafayette Ford Lincoln of Fayetteville Seahawk Softball Invitational.
The Colonels will play five games over the weekend. EKU opens up with a pair of contests on Friday, taking on host UNC Wilmington at 12:30 p.m. They take on Youngstown State in their second game on Friday at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday the Colonels start with host UNC Wilmington again at 10 a.m. and wrap up the day with Canisius College at 3 p.m. They wrap up their weekend against Canisius College at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Inside the Series
-EKU and UNC Wilmington have split a pair of contests prior to this year. The last contest was in 2016.
-The Colonels second opponent on the weekend is Youngstown State. The two teams have played six times prior to this year, with EKU winning all six games. The last contest was in 2018.
-EKU wraps up its weekend with a pair of contests against Canisius College. Canisius leads the all-time series 2-0. The two teams haven't met since 2010.

Scouting the Opponent:
-UNC Wilmington comes into the weekend at 13-10 on the year. The Seahawks are led by Carson Shaner at the plate. She has a team-high .341 batting average with four home runs and 13 RBIs.
-Youngstown State is 3-12 on the year. The Penguins are led by Lexi Zappitelli who has a team-best .325 batting average. She has three doubles, one triple and two RBIs on the year.
-Canisius comes into the weekend at 0-11 on the year. CC is led by Kara Paradowski who has a .433 batting average on the year. She has one triple, one RBI and a team-high 13 hits on the year.
EKU returns home on Wednesday when the Colonels take on in-state rival Western Kentucky. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
