MOREHEAD, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky grabbed a first inning 2-0 lead, but Morehead State scored seven unanswered to pick up a 7-2 victory in the Ohio Valley Conference baseball series opener on Friday at John Allen Field.
 
Freshman 
Logan Thomason got EKU (11-6, 0-1 OVC) on the board with an RBI double to center in the top of the first inning.  Fellow freshman 
Brent Lovell followed with a single to right to plate Thomason and give the visitors and early 2-0 lead.
 
On the third pitch of the bottom of the first inning, Connor Pauly tied the game with a 2-run home run over the wall in center.  Later in the inning, Hunter Fain put the Eagles (12-5, 2-2 OVC) on top for good with a run scoring single.
 
Solo home runs by Stephen Hill and Reid Leonard in the bottom of the second inning helped Morehead State pull away.
 
Ryland Kerr and 
A.J. Lewis each scored a run.  
Chris Botsoe went 2-for-3 with a walk.  EKU's 
Will Brian made his season debut.  In two scoreless innings of relief work, he did not allow a hit, walked one and struck out two.
 
Pauly finished 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs for the Eagles.  Dalton Stambaugh (3-1) got the win after holding Eastern to two runs on seven hits in six and two-thirds innings.  He walked three and struck out six.
