RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team wraps up its seven game home stand with a midweek game against Northern Kentucky University on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
 
It is Employee Appreciation Day at Gertrude Hood Field. Admission is FREE to the public, and EKU softball pop sockets and seat cushions will be passed out at the game. Inflatables will also be set up near the stadium for children to enjoy.
 
New women's basketball head coach Samantha Williams and new soccer head coach Matt Cosinuke are among those who will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
 
Inside the Series:                                                                                                                   
-Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series between the two teams, 6-3
 
-EKU won the last meeting between the two teams, 13-4, in 2017.
 
What EKU Brings:
-EKU comes into the contest at 25-15 (12-4 OVC) after sweeping SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois over the weekend.
 
-Hannah Clark paces the offense with a batting average of .374, 10 doubles, 11 home runs and 45 RBIs. Clark became the all-time RBI leader in EKU softball history with her two RBI single against SIU Edwardsville on Friday.
 
-Clark ranks 22nd in the country in runs batted in per game and 20th in RBIs.
 
-Samantha Reynoso posted a 3-0 record last week moving her record to 8-1 on the year. She threw her second complete game of the year on Sunday against Eastern Illinois, going seven innings, allowing one run and striking out four. 
 
-Mollie Paulick ranks third in the country in saves with six.  
 
-Eastern ranks 40th in the country in home runs per game and 49th in the country in scoring.
 
 
Scouting the Opponent:
-Northern Kentucky comes into the game at 13-22, after taking two-of-three against Green Bay over the weekend.
 
-The Norse are led by Zahrya McFarland, who has a team-best .326 average, with six doubles, two triples, one home run and 15 RBIs.   
 
-Tayor Ginther leads the way in the circle for NKU. She is 8-10 on the year with a 3.29 ERA. She has 66 strikeouts on the year.
 
-Northern ranks 77th in the country in fielding percentage.
 
-The Norse rank fifth in the Horizon League in shutouts.
 
Eastern hits the road for its seven game road trip starting this weekend, when they travel to take on Belmont University in a doubleheader on Friday. First pitch is at 4:30 p.m.
