EKU Softball Hosts No. 22 Ranked Kentucky For Its Suicide Prevention And Awareness Game

RICHMOND, Ky. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University softball comes home to take on No. 22 ranked University of Kentucky for its Suicide Prevention and Awareness Game on Wednesday.
 
First pitch against UK is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

The game against the Wildcats will be a maroon-out game.  FREE maroon t-shirts, courtesy of Coca-Cola, will be given out while supplies last.  In addition, there will be EKU softball merchandise giveaways during the game.  EKU All-American outfielder Paige Murphy will throw out the first pitch.
 
At the game, there will be a silent auction filled with generous donations from local business around Richmond. EKU softball will also be donating a basket for auction during the game. The silent auction table will be located at the entrance of the stadium. Winners of the silent auction will be announced at the end of the game. Payment at the table can be made in the form or cash or online with debit/credit cards.
 
Any donations and your support is greatly appreciated by EKU softball and the EKU Psychology Clinic as we team up for the cause.

Inside the Series                                                                                                                   
-Kentucky leads the all-time series between the two teams 23-7.
 
-The two teams met twice last year with the Wildcats winning both contests. Kentucky won the first game, 10-0, in Lexington, before defeating EKU, 2-1, in Richmond.
 
What EKU Brings:
-EKU comes into the contest at 18-13 after losing a pair of contests against Southeast Missouri on Monday afternoon.
 
-Hannah Clark paces the offense with a batting average of .384, 10 doubles, nine home runs and 36 RBIs.
 
-Clark ranks 26th in the country in runs batted in per game.
 
-Mollie Paulick ranks third in the country in saves.  
 
-Eastern ranks 34th in the country in home runs per game. 
 
-The Colonels rank 45th in scoring on the year. 
 
 
Scouting the Opponent:
-Kentucky comes into the weekend 22-13 and ranked 22nd in the country.   
 
-The Wildcats are led offensively by Abby Cheek. Cheek has a team-best .488 batting average, eight doubles, 11 home runs and 37 RBIs.   
 
-Autumn Humes leads the way in the circle for UK. She is 8-6 on the year with a 3.93 ERA.  She has 50 strikeouts over 73 and one-third innings pitched.  
 
-UK ranks 23rd in the country in home runs per game.   
 
-Kentucky ranks 13th in the country in scoring.
 
Eastern returns to diamond this weekend, when travel to Nashville to take on Tennessee State for a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
