EKU Softball Travels To Lexington To Take On No. 23 Kentucky On Wednesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – 
The Eastern Kentucky University softball team starts a stretch of seven straight road games when it travels north to take on the University of Kentucky Wednesday night.
 
First pitch will be at 6 p.m. The game will air live on SEC Network+.
 
Inside the Series:                                                                                                                   
-Kentucky leads the all-time series between the two teams 24-7
 
-Kentucky won the first meeting between the two teams this year, 11-5, in Richmond.
 
What EKU Brings:
-EKU comes into the contest at 26-15 (12-4 OVC) and winners of its last eight games after defeating Northern Kentucky, 6-3, last Wednesday.
 
-Hannah Clark paces the offense with a batting average of .376, 10 doubles, 11 home runs and 46 RBIs on the year.
 
-Clark ranks 18th in the country in runs batted in per game and 29th in RBIs.
 
-Mollie Paulick picked up her team-high 10th win on the year after throwing one and two-third scoreless innings in relief and striking out three batters.   
 
-Paulick ranks third in the country in saves with six.  
 
-Eastern ranks 48th in the country in home runs per game and 49th in the country in scoring.
 
Scouting the Opponent:
-Kentucky comes into the contest at 29-18 after sweeping conference foe Auburn over the weekend.
 
-The Wildcats are led by Abby Cheek, who is hitting a team-high .462, with 16 home runs and 44 RBIs on the season. Cheek ranks sixth in the country in batting average, 16th in home runs and RBIs, and sixth in slugging percentage.   
 
-Grace Baalman leads the way in the circle for the Wildcats, she is 8-8 on the year with a 2.77 ERA. She has 86 strikeouts over 111 and one-third innings pitched on the year.
 
-Kentucky ranks 13th in the country in scoring and 20th in home runs.
 
-The Wildcats rank 28th in the country in shutouts.
 
Eastern continues its road stand when it travels to Murray, Kentucky to take on Murray State for a doubleheader on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
