The Eastern Kentucky University softball team split a pair of contests against Murray State University on Friday.

EKU (27-17, 13-5 OVC) won game one, 5-1, before falling in game two, 7-6.

In game one Eastern scored five unanswered runs to take the game from the Racers.

Murray State (22-24, 12-6 OVC) scratched first with a run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead after the first inning.

In the top of the third inning, Sammi Miller doubled to right center gap with one out to get things started. After stealing third, Hannah Clark brought home the first run with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Colonels took the lead for good. Emily Corbitt deposited a home run over the left center field fence to take the 2-1 lead. Erica Bower followed with a single and advanced to second on a pass ball. Brooke Harrison wasted no time driving her in with a RBI double down the left field line to take a 3-1 lead.

Harrison continued her stellar day at the plate in the top of the sixth. After back-to-back one out singles by Carly Robinson and Corbitt, Harrison hit her second double of the game to bring home two and give Eastern the 5-1 lead.

In game two Murray used a four run seventh inning to come from behind and knock of the Colonels.

EKU struck for three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-3 lead. With the game tied, 3-3, Robinson started the top of the seventh with a single to right field. Erica Bowers delivered some fireworks when she sent her first career home run over the center field fence to give Eastern the 5-3 lead. Harrison hit her third double in two games to follow. After a sac bunt by Melissa Jacobsen, Miller brought home Harrison with a sac fly to take the 6-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

A leadoff single and a walk put runners on first and second with one out for Murray State in the bottom of the seventh. Logan Braundmeier sent a pitch down the right field line for a double to bring home Brenna Fink and make the score 6-4. After a wild pitch brought home another run to make it 6-5, Denise Teague reached via a fielder's choice and put runners on the corners with one out. Lexi Jones singled to bring home Braundmeier and Teague to walk it off in the seventh.

Eastern fell behind early, 3-0 after three innings of play. Hannah Clark changed that as she sent her team-best 12th home run to straight away center field to cut into the Racer lead, 3-2.
