OXFORD, Ala. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team lost to No. 1 seed Southeast Missouri State University on day two of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

EKU (32-19) lost 6-0 to the Redhawks.

With rain in the area, Eastern returns to the field tomorrow when the Colonels take on No. 6 seed Belmont University at 10 a.m. in the elimination bracket. Â

Eastern could never get anything going and only managed four hits in the loss to SEMO. Â

Southeast Missouri (42-15) scored four runs in the bottom of the first on the way to scoring in each of the first three innings and never looking back.

After a leadoff walk, Rachel Anderson, the OVC Player of the Year, brought home the first run with a single up the middle to give the Redhawks a 1-0 lead. SEMO scored three more runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead.

Southeast Missouri pushed one across in the second and third to round out the scoring.

Murphy McRoberts threw five and two-third innings in relief, striking out two and allowing two runs.

Erica Bowers went 2-for-2 on the game with two singles and a walk.
