Soccer Heads West to Play Eastern Illinois on Friday

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will play at OVC foe Eastern Illinois on Friday afternoon. First touch from Charleston, Illinois is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
 
 
WHAT TO KNOW
 
EKU (3-7, 1-1 OVC) shut out Jacksonville State to open OVC play last Friday night, before falling at Tennessee Tech, 3-1, on Sunday.
 
Senior Monica Rios scored the game-winner vs. JSU on Friday. Sophomore goalkeeper Zoe Aguirre earned her first shutout of the year in the victory, making four stops.
 
Freshman Audrey Anderson scored her second goal of the season in the loss at TTU on Sunday.
 
EKU ranks second in the OVC in goals-against average (1.49).
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Eastern Illinois (1-5-1, 0-1-1 OVC) played UT Martin to a 0-0 draw on Friday before falling at Southeast Missouri, 1-0, on Sunday.
 
Nicoletta Anuci paces the Panthers offense with two goals and one assist.
 
EKU is 7-7-1 all-time vs. Eastern Illinois. The Colonels have not lost to the Panthers since 2013. In the last five matchups between the two teams, EKU has outscored EIU 9-0.
 
 
UP NEXT
 
Eastern has Sunday off before returning home next weekend to host Austin Peay (Oct. 4) and Murray State (Oct. 6).
