Soccer Travels to IUPUI, Hosts Northern Kentucky this Week

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will travel to IUPUI on Thursday night before returning home to host in-state rival Northern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon.
 

WHAT TO KNOW
 
Thursday night's game at IUPUI will get underway at 7 p.m.
 
Sunday's game vs. NKU is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
 
Both games will stream live on ESPN+.
 
EKU (1-3) is fresh off a big win over Milwaukee last Sunday in Richmond. Junior Kylie Thompson scored the game-winner on a PK eight minutes into overtime.
 
Thompson leads EKU with two goals on the year.
 
It was only Milwaukee's second regular season loss since the beginning of the 2017 season.
 
Junior goalkeeper Billie Clark was voted OVC Goalkeeper of the Week on Tuesday. Clark recorded her first-career shutout in the win over Milwaukee, making seven saves.
 
Fellow junior Katie Shaffer was named OVC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. The center back played 183 minutes last week and was key in blanking high-scoring Milwaukee on Sunday.
 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
 
IUPUI comes into Thursday's match at 2-1-1, with wins over Toledo and Southern Illinois.
 
The Jaguars are paced offensively by Valentine Pursey's two goals.
 
EKU is 2-0 all-time against IUPUI, with both wins coming in the last two years. Redshirt sophomore Sarah Owusu has scored three career goals against the Jaguars, including two in last year's 3-1 EKU victory.
 
Northern Kentucky is 2-2 on the year and fresh off a 3-1 win over preseason OVC favorite Murray State last Sunday.
 
The Norse play at Kentucky on Thursday night before coming to Richmond on Sunday.
 
EKU is 1-1 all-time vs. NKU.
 

UP NEXT
 
Next week, EKU will host Kentucky on Thursday, Sept. 12, before travelling to face Akron on Sunday, Sept. 15.
