JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's basketball teams open another Ohio Valley Conference road trip at Jacksonville State on Saturday night.

The doubleheader at Pete Mathews Coliseum opens with the women's game at 6:15 p.m. ET. The men's game follows at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Both games will stream live on ESPN+.

-  Destinee Elliott led the way for the Gamecocks with a team-high 11 points against the Cougars.
 
-  The Gamecocks held the Cougars to 28 percent shooting from the field in the win.
 
-  JSU ranks first in OVC play in scoring defense, only allowing 52.2 points per game.
 
-  Taylor Hawks ranks 14^th in OVC play in scoring.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
At 4-2 in the OVC, this is EKU's best conference start since the 2013-14 season.
 
Sophomore Jomaru Brown poured in 37 points in the Colonels' 92-88 road victory at Tennessee State last Saturday in Nashville. It was the Colonels' first road win and the Tigers' first home loss of the season.
 
Brown went 18-of-19 from the free throw line against TSU. His 18 free throws are the most by any OVC player this season and the second most by any player in the country this season.
 
Brown was voted the OVC Player of the Week on Monday. He averaged 31 points, 5.5 rebounds 4 assists-per-game over EKU's Nashville road swing last week.
 
Brown now leads the OVC in scoring during conference play (22.3 points-per-game).
 
Freshman Michael Moreno scored a career-high 15 points in the win over Tennessee State. He also grabbed a team-best seven rebounds to go along with three assists.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Jacksonville State (8-11, 3-3 OVC) lost at Eastern Illinois last Thursday, but recovered to beat SIUE on Saturday, 64-56.
 
De'Torrion Ware (11.4 points-per-game) and Jacara Cross (11.3 points-per-game) pace the Gamecocks offensively.
 
This is the 34th all-time meeting between EKU and Jacksonville State. Eastern leads the series, 21-12; however, the Gamecocks defeated the Colonels in Richmond, 80-71, on January 4.
