EKU Women's Basketball Opens Season At #15/16 Indiana On Wednesday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University's women's basketball team opens its 2020-21 season on the road at No. 15/16 Indiana University on Wednesday in Bloomington.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

 INSIDE THE SERIES
- This will be the 10th all-time meeting between the two teams.
 
- Indiana leads the all-time series between the two teams, 6-3.
 
- This is the first meeting between the two teams since 2002.  
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern finished 11-18 last year, and comes into the season having had one of the biggest turnarounds in DI basketball a year ago.
 
-  The Colonels welcome seven newcomers to the team, including six freshmen.  
 
-  EKUs second leading scorer and rebounder Bria Bass returns for her senior year.
 
Kendall Wingler comes into her first year after being the state's leading scorer a year ago.
 
Kynnedy Azubike is now eligible after sitting out last year after transferring from Akron.  

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Indiana finished last year, 24-8, and comes into the season ranked No. 15 in the country.
 
-  Senior Ali Partberg was named to the 2021 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Top 50 preseason watch list and the preseason Wade Watch list for the 2021 Wade Trophy.
 
-  Partberg averaged 15.6 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game as a junior.
 
-  Grace Berger returns for the Hoosiers. The junior guard averaged 13.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game during her sophomore campaign.
