EKU Women's Basketball Plays Tough, But Comes Up Short On The Road At No. 5 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
 Eastern Kentucky University's women's basketball team fell on the road at No. 5 University of Louisville on Sunday in Louisville, 101-58.
 
The Colonels got off to a good start cutting the Cardinal lead to, 11-9, after a Corianna Evans layup with 4:17 remaining in the first quarter. Louisville took a 17-12 lead after the first stanza.
 
Louisville (2-0) opened the second quarter on a 12-0 run in less than three minutes to take a 29-12 lead and never looked back.
 
Amerah Steele posted a team-best 11 points with four rebounds and two steals. Emma Hacker posted 10 points to go with two rebounds off the bench. Kendall Wingler posted nine points, four rebounds, and one assist. Alice Recanati posted eight points, five rebounds, and four assists. Evans chipped in eight points and two rebounds.  
 
Dana Evans posted a game-high 20 points and seven assists for the Cardinals.
 
EKU shot 34 percent from the field. The Colonels scored 14 bench points.
 
The Colonels open up conference play against in-state rival Morehead State next Saturday at McBrayer Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
