MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team travels to Montgomery, Alabama for Alabama State's Black & Gold Tournament this weekend.
The Colonels will play five games over the weekend. EKU takes on Nicholls at 11 a.m. Friday followed by host Alabama State at 4 p.m. Eastern squares off against Southern Mississippi Saturday at 12:30 p.m. followed by host Alabama State again at 5:30 p.m. They wrap up their weekend with Nicholls on Sunday at 12 p.m.
Inside the Series'
-This will be the fifth and sixth all-time meetings with Nicholls. Nicholls leads the all-time series between the two teams, 4-1. The Colonels come into the weekend at 7-11 after knocking off South Alabama in the midweek, 4-3 in 16 innings. Kennedy Hebert leads the way at the plate for Nicholls with a team-high .453 batting average, three doubles, one triple, four home runs and 11 RBIs. Jordan Moon is 2-2 in the circle with a 2.53 ERA on the year.
-The Colonels' second opponent on the weekend is host Alabama State. Eastern leads the all-times series between the two teams, 2-1. The Hornets come into the weekend at 6-9, after falling in the midweek to nationally ranked Georgia, 9-1. Alexis Syndor leads ASU at the plate. Snyder has a team-high .528 batting average, five double, eight RBIs and six stolen bases. Alexa Veamoi leads the way in the circle with a 2-1 record on the year.
-This will be the second all-time meeting between Eastern Kentucky and Southern Mississippi. The Eagles lead the all-time series, 1-0. Southern Miss is 8-4 on the year after losing to McNees State on Tuesday. USM takes on Alcorn State in a doubleheader on Wednesday. Madison Rayner comes in with a team-high .481 batting average, with three doubles, four triples and three RBIs. Kaylan Ladner leads the way in the circle with a 1.85 ERA.
What EKU Brings:
-Eastern comes into the weekend at 12-2, and winners of eight straight games after going 5-0 at UNC Wilmington.

Sammi Miller leads the way at the plate with a team-best .452 batting average, five doubles, eight RBIs and five stolen bases.

Mollie Paulick leads the way in the circle for the Colonels. Paulick is 5-1 with a 1.57 ERA on the year with 57 strikeouts over 44 and two-third innings pitched.
-EKUs pitching staff posted a 5-0 record with a 0.80 ERA last weekend at UNC Wilmington allowing only four runs.
-Eight different Colonels have hit a home run this year.
-EKU ranks fifth in the country in home runs per game averaging one and half home runs per game.
