EKU Softball Starts Florida Swing With A Midweek Double Header Against Bethune-Cookman On Wednesday

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University softball team will take its 16 game winning streak to the Sunshine State for its first midweek game of the year against Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday.
 
The Colonels will play two games against the Wildcats in Daytona Beach. First pitch is schedule for 1 p.m.
 
Inside the Series'                                                                                                                   
-This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams. Bethune-Cookman comes into the week at 4-25 with a pair of games against Fairfield on Tuesday. Haley Parks leads the Wildcats at the plate with a team-high .320 batting average. Parks has three doubles, three RBIs and seven stolen bases on the season. Victoria Guzman leads the way in the circle for Bethune-Cookman. Guzman is 4-14 on the year with a 3.81 ERA.
 
 
What EKU Brings:
-Eastern comes into the weekend at 20-2. The Colonels have won 16 straight, the longest winning streak in Division 1 softball, after going 3-0 at the EKU Invitational.   
 
-Sammi Miller leads the way at the plate with a team-best .426 batting average, seven doubles, two triples, 12 RBIs and five stolen bases.
 
-Mollie Paulick and Tori Peterson led the way in the circle for the Colonels over the weekend. Each posting a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. Paulick is 10-1 on the year and Peterson is 2-0.
 
-EKU's pitching staff ranks 29th in the country in earned run average.    
 
-Eastern ranks 23rd in the country in fielding percentage.
 
-The Colonels offense ranks 29th in the NCAA in slugging percentage on the season.
 
The Colonels continue their Florida swing with a trip to Jacksonville for the Jax Classic over the weekend. First pitch against Marist is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
