RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team rolled past Akron, 8-0, in five innings to push its winning streak to 14 games.

Eastern Kentucky's (18-2) used two runs in the second and third innings and four in the fourth to roll past Akron on Saturday.

In the bottom of the second inning,
Carly Robinson and
Vianna Barron had back-to-back singles to get things started. After
Mollie Paulick got hit to loaded the bases,
Mattira Morales singled to right field to score two and give Eastern the early 2-0 lead.

Sammi Miller got things started in the bottom of the second inning with a hit by pitch. Freshman
Ariyana Miranda wasted no time sending the first pitch into the right center gap to score Miller and give Eastern the 3-0 lead. Robinson brought home Miranda with a RBI ground out.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Miranda hit her second double of the game down the left field line to score two, and give Eastern the 6-0 lead.
Zoe Mihalicz followed suit with a double down the right field line to put the Colonels up 8-0 and put the run rule into effect.

Paulick (10-1) picked up the win tossing five innings, allowing one hit and striking out nine. Â

Eastern wraps up the home weekend tomorrow with a pair of games against UIC and Dayton. First pitch against UIC is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
