RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team fell, 65-39, at home against the University of Tennessee at Martin on Thursday night.

The Colonels (6-7, 5-4 OVC) closed the first half on an 8-0 run, capped off by an
Emma Hacker steal and layup to take a 25-23 lead into half.

UT Martin (6-3, 5-1 OVC), however, opened the second half on a 15-4 run. The Skyhawks outscored the Colonels 23-7 in the third quarter to take a 46-32 lead after three quarters and did not look back.

The two teams got off to slow starts in the first quarter, and after a quarter UT Martin had a 12-8 lead over the Colonels.

Maddie Waldrop hit a three-pointer with 6:15 remaining in the first half to give UTM the 18-10 lead. Eastern went on a quick 7-2 run, and a
Kendall Wingler three-pointer from the left wing cut the Skyhawk lead to three, 20-17.

Jayla Johnson led the way for the Colonels, posting 11 points and three rebounds. Wingler chipped in seven points and five rebounds.

Chelsey Perry posted a game-best 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists for UT Martin. Waldrop and Kyannah Grant each chipped in nine points.

Eastern held UT Martin to 39 percent shooting in the contest.
