Recanati's Career-Night Not Enough As Colonels Fall On The Road At Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. –
Eastern Kentucky University's women's basketball team fell on the road at Tennessee Tech University on Thursday night, 74-58, in Cookeville.
 
Freshman Alice Recanati posted a career-high 22 points, with six rebounds and four assists.
 
The Colonels jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after an Emma Hacker three just a minute and a half into the game. Tennessee Tech answered back with a 19-4 run after the Jada Guinn three-pointer to take a 19-9 lead with three minutes remaining in the opening stanza.
 
TTU (8-5, 6-4 OVC) took a nine-point lead, 23-14, into the second quarter.
 
But Eastern came out in the second quarter ready.
 
The Colonels (6-9, 5-6 OVC) opened the second quarter on a 9-2 run after a Jayla Johnson jumper to whittle the Golden Eagles lead to two, 25-23, with 5:39 remaining in the first half.
 
Tennessee Tech answered back and pushed its lead to six, 34-28, at the half after a Maaliya Owens jumper with 34 seconds remaining before the half.
 
With the Colonels trailing 36-30, early in the third quarter, Tennessee Tech went on a 16-6 run after the Anna Jones layup with 3:13 remaining in the quarter and the Golden Eagles did not look back.
 
The Colonels kept trying to chip into the TTU lead and cut it to eight, 56-48, after a Hacker three less than a minute into the final quarter.
 
But Eastern could not get any closer.
 
Tennessee Tech answered back with a 14-4 run to push its lead to 18, 70-52.
 
Eastern shot 38 percent from the field. The Golden Eagles shot 39 percent from the field.
 
TTU hit 18 free throws to the Colonels' nine.
 
The Colonels are off this weekend, before they return home next Thursday against Austin Peay. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
