EKU Soccer Gears Up For ASUN Tournament Showdown With Liberty

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team hits the road to Nashville for a first-round contest against reigning ASUN Tournament Champion Liberty on Friday night.
 
The match starts at 7 p.m. eastern time.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
EKU enters the weekend 8-9 (4-5 ASUN) and the three seed out of the west after falling to in-state rival Bellarmine, 1-0, last weekend.
 
Freshman Gretta Gunn and Michaela Iacono are second on the team with nine points each. Gunn has three goals and three assists. Iacono has two goals and a team-best five assists on the season. Her five assists rank second in the conference.
 
Fellow freshman Lucy Ream has been stellar the past month and has two goals and four assists on the season. Her four assists rank second on the team.
 
Audrey Anderson leads the team with five goals and eight points on the year.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Liberty comes into the weekend at 11-6-1 (6-3 ASUN) after knocking off Kennesaw State, 3-2, last Saturday in Atlanta.
 
The Flames tied atop of the east standings in the division but after the tiebreaker will be the two seed out of the east.
 
Liberty has the best offensive attack in the league having scored a league best 35 goals on the season. The Flames have had 14 different players find the back of the net.
 
Randi Palacios leads the way in goal for Liberty. She has posted an 11-6-1 record on the season with 53 saves.
 
UP NEXT
 
With a win the Colonels advance to the semifinals on Sunday against the winner of Lipscomb and Jacksonville State. The match would start at 2 p.m.
