EKU Basketball Set To Host Murray State On Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's and men's basketball teams will host Murray State in an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader on Saturday at McBrayer Arena. The women tip at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the men at 4 p.m. ET.

Both games will air live on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- This is the 93rd all-time meeting between the two teams.

THE COLONELS

-  Murray State comes into the contest at 9-9 (6-7 OVC), after defeating Morehead State, 70-54, on Thursday in Morehead.
 
-  The Racers are led by junior Macey Turley who is averaging a team-best 16.4 points per game on the season.
 
-  Bria Sanders-Wood led the way for Murray State against Morehead State scoring a team-best 18 points.
 
-  Murray State ranks second during league play in free-throw percentage.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
EKU (14-3, 8-2 OVC) fell to Austin Peay, 94-79, on Thursday evening in Richmond.
 
Freshman Wendell Green Jr. had 25 points and nine assists in the defeat. Green Jr. now ranks second in the OVC in scoring (17.8 points-per-game) and first in assists (5.6 assists-per-game) during league play.
 
Over his last five games, junior Cooper Robb is averaging 13.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists-per-game, while shooting 45.5 percent (15-of-33) from three-point range.
 
Sophomore Michael Moreno is shooting 53.9 percent (21-of-39) from three-point range over the Colonels' last seven games.
 
Green Jr. currently leads all freshmen in the country in total assists (95).
 
Eastern leads the NCAA in steals-per-game (11.7) and turnover margin (+7.9).
 
The Colonels rank eighth in the country in scoring (84.0 points-per-game) and 13th in three-pointers-per-game (10.1).

Murray State (8-9, 5-7 OVC) fell at Morehead State, 66-56, on Thursday.
 
The Racers are led by KJ Williams, who comes in averaging 15.2 points and 8.4 rebounds-per-game.
 
This is the 170th meeting between EKU and Murray State. The Racers lead the series, 107-62, and have won seven straight games over the Colonels.
