HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Eastern Kentucky University junior
Quantasia Perry broke the school record in the indoor 200 meters on Saturday at the Marshall Classic.
Â
Perry – a native of Covington, Georgia – exploded off the blocks and clocked a personal-best time of 24.27, winning the women's 200 meters and edging Felecia Hawkins' 24-year-old school record of 24.28.
Â
That time is the fastest in the OVC so far this season and it currently ranks Perry in the top-60 in the country.
Â
Perry was the OVC runner-up in the outdoor 100 meters in 2019.
Â
She came into Saturday ranked No. 4 on EKU's all-time indoor 200 meters with her previous personal-best of 24.55.
Â
Freshman
Kayla Smith, meanwhile, won the women's 60 meters on Saturday, clocking a time of 7.62.
Â
Smith is the current OVC leader in the 60 meters with her time of 7.49, which she ran on January 15 (No. 48 in the country).
Â
Other notable performances on Saturday included seniors
