Molly Michalak posted 14 kills and six digs in her college debut, but Eastern Kentucky University fell to UT Martin, 3-1, Sunday night at McBrayer Arena.

Audrey Eurton posted her first double-double of her career with 46 assists and 12 digs. Freshman
Sarah Mitchell posted a double-double as well with 13 kills and 10 digs. Junior
Lindsey Wilkins chipped in 13 kills as well.

After a Wilkins kill in the opening set gave the Colonels a 6-5 lead, the Skyhawks scored six of the next seven points to take an 11-7 lead. UTM took a 21-15 after an Addy Vaugh kill, but the Colonels responded. A
Maddy Campbell kill cut the Skyhawk lead to one, 23-22, but a Karen Scanlon kill stopped the EKU run. Logan Wallick finished the set with a kill to take the opening set, 25-23.

With the second set tied, 8-8, the Skyhawks scored four straight points after an attack error by Michalak to give them a 12-8 lead and force a Colonel timeout. The two teams traded runs for most of the second set, but with the Colonels down 21-18, Eastern closed the set on a 7-1 run capped off by a kill by Mitchell to take the second set 25-22.

The Colonels got off to a good start in the third set and jumped out to an early 13-9 lead after a Vaughn error. UT Martin responded and tied the set at 17-17 after the Karen Scanlon ace. The two teams traded points for the rest before UTM took the third, 25-22.

UTM jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the fourth set and never looked back. Eastern cut the lead to one, 11-10, after a Michalak kill, but the Colonels could never get any closer. The Skyhawks took the final set 25-19 to win the match.

Logan Wallick posted a team-best 17 kills for the Skyhawks. Scanlon chipped in nine kills and seven digs.

The Colonels hit .220 on the contest. Eastern had 70 digs compared to UT Martins' 60 digs.

Eastern hits the court tomorrow against the Skyhawks. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
