MOREHEAD, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky lost 5-2 at Morehead State on Friday in the opening game of a three-game weekend series.
 
The Eagles (6-6, 1-0 OVC) jumped out in front quickly in the bottom of the first.  Stephen Hill, the third batter of the inning, hit a two-run home run down the left field line.  Ryan Layne added a two-out RBI double to cap the three-run frame.
 
EKU drew within one in the top of the fifth.  Santiago Peralta singled with one out.  Max Williams followed with his first collegiate home run, a two-run shot over the wall in right field to make it 3-2.
 
Morehead State scored a runs on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to edge back in front by three, 5-2.  Eastern (4-8, 0-1 OVC) drew two walks to start the ninth and bring the tying run to the plate, but couldn't get any closer.
 
Williams finished 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.  Harris went 2-for-3 with a walk.
 
Hill had a 3-for-4 day with a run and two RBIs.  Ryley Preece scored twice.
 
The series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
