EKU Softball Hits The Road To Take On In-State Rival Murray State In A Three-Game Series

RICHMOND, Ky. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University softball team hits the road to take on in-state rival Murray State in a three-game series this weekend.
 
The Colonels will now play one game on Saturday with a doubleheader on Sunday. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Game one on Sunday is scheduled for 2 p.m. with game two following 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Inside the Series                                                                                                                   
-Murray State comes into the contest 5-12 (2-1 OVC) after taking two-of-three against UT Martin last weekend.  
 
-The Racers lead the all-time series between the two teams, 14-13.
 
-Lily Fischer leads the way offensively for the Racers. Fischer is hitting a team-best .311 with five doubles and two RBIs.
 
-Hannah James and Jenna Veber lead the way in the circle for Murray State. James is 3-6 on the year with a 2.48 ERA in 53 and two-third innings. Veber is 1-5 with a 2.77 ERA on the season.
 
What EKU Brings:
-EKU comes into the weekend at 11-3 (3-0 OVC) after beating Chattanooga, 10-0, on the road Wednesday night.
 
-Carly Robinson leads the offensive charge for the Colonels with a team-high .450 batting average, three home runs and 12 RBIs.
 
-The Colonels hit four home runs, including three in the fifth inning, against the Mocs on Wednesday.
 
-Freshman Kaitlyn Young started in the circle on Wednesday tossing a complete game, allowing one hit and striking out four.   
 
-The Colonels currently rank 35th in the nation in doubles per game and 31st overall in doubles. Both of those rank second in the OVC.  
 
-Sammi Miller ranks fifth in the country in triples.
