EKU Softball Travels To Take On Southeast Missouri State As The Two Teams Battle For First Place In The OVC

RICHMOND, Ky. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University softball team travels to take on first-place Southeast Missouri State for a three-game series this weekend.   
 
The two teams come into the weekend in first and second in the OVC standings. Game one of the three game series is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. Game two on Saturday will start approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Inside the Series                                                                                                                   
-Southeast Missouri comes into the weekend at 20-12 (15-3 OVC) and in first place in the OVC after knocking off Saint Louis, 2-0, on Wednesday in Gape Girardeau.
 
-SEMO leads the all-time series between the two teams, 41-35.
 
-Katie Dreiling and Kynzie Wrigley pace a good Southeast Missouri offense so far this year. Dreiling is hitting .390 on the season with three home runs and 14 RBIs. Wrigley is right behind with a .388 batting average, one home run and seven RBIs.
 
-Rachel Rook leads the way in the circle for the Redhawks. Rook is 13-7 on the year with a 2.36 ERA. She has posted 127 strikeouts in 107 innings pitched.
 
What EKU Brings:
-EKU comes into the weekend at 25-10 (16-4 OVC) after falling to No. 12 Kentucky, 12-4, on Wednesday night in Richmond.
 
-Sammi Miller and Carly Robinson pace the Colonel offense. Miller has a team-best .438 batting average, with 10 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 20 RBIs. Robinson is hitting .346 with four doubles, a team-high seven home runs and 27 RBIs.
 
-Tori Peterson leads the way in the circle for the Colonels with an 13-2 record and a 1.85 ERA. Peterson is 10-1 with a 0.95 ERA in OVC play. Peterson was named OVC Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
 
-The Colonels currently rank 25th in the nation in doubles which is second in the OVC.
 
-Miller ranks 26th in the country in hits.
