EKU Softball Heads To Take On Austin Peay For The Final Series Of The Regular Season

RICHMOND, Ky. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University softball team travels to take on Austin Peay State University for the final series of the regular season.
 
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday with the series finale on Sunday. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 2 p.m. with game two to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Sunday's contest will start at 2 p.m.
 
The Colonels come into the weekend still having a chance to win the regular-season title. EKU can finish first if it sweeps Austin Peay and SEMO loses its series to JSU. Or, if the Colonels win their series and the Redhawks are swept. Southeast Missouri wins the regular-season title and claim the top spot in this year's OVC Tournament with a win over Jacksonville State and one Eastern Kentucky loss.

Inside the Series                                                                                                                   
-Austin Peay comes into the weekend at 25-14 (20-11 OVC) after winning two-of-three against UT Martin last weekend in Martin and in third place of the Ohio Valley Conference standings.
 
-Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series between the two teams, 63-17.
 
-Lexi Osowski leads the offensive charge for the Governors with a team-high .425 batting average. Osowski has 48 hits, nine doubles, five home runs and 24 RBIs on the season.
 
-Jordan Benefiel leads the way in the circle for Austin Peay. Benefiel is 8-6 on the year with a team-best 1.70 ERA on the season. She has 77 strikeouts over 78 and one-third innings pitched this year.
 
What EKU Brings:
-EKU comes into the weekend at 32-13 (22-7 OVC) and second in the OVC standings after losing two-of-three against Eastern Illinois last weekend in Richmond.
 
-Sammi Miller and Carly Robinson pace the Colonel offense. Miller has a team-best .431 batting average, with 13 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 23 RBIs. Robinson is hitting .330 with six doubles, a team-high eight home runs and 36 RBIs.
 
-Miller ranks first in the OVC in batting average, hits and runs scored. She ranks second in doubles, fourth in triples and top-10 in stolen bases.
 
-Tori Peterson and Mollie Paulick lead the way in the circle for the Colonels. Peterson is 16-4 on the season with a 2.16 ERA. Peterson is second in OVC play with 12 wins on the year. Paulick is 10-1 with a team-best 1.79 ERA with 72 strikeouts.
 
-The Colonels currently rank 34th in the nation in doubles which is second in the OVC.
