Former Running Back Alonzo Booth Chosen First Team Academic All-District

RICHMOND, Ky. – Former EKU running back Alonzo Booth was chosen to the 2020 Academic All-District® Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
As a first team all-district honoree, Booth advances to the Academic All-America® ballot.  This is the second straight year Booth has earned Academic All-District® recognition.
 
Booth was one of two running backs chosen in district two, which includes all Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams in the states of Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, along with the District of Columbia.
 
In the classroom, Booth compiled a 3.65 cumulative grade-point-average while earning a degree in psychology.
 
Prior to the 2020 season, Booth was selected Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference by coaches and communications directors, HERO Sports and by Phil Steele.  Booth was chosen as the STATS Perform FCS Player of the Week on Nov. 22 after rushing for 178 yards, scoring three rushing touchdowns and catching a pass for a 69-yard touchdown in the Opportunity Bowl victory over Western Carolina.  He rushed for 708 yards on 152 carries (4.7 yards/carry) and scored seven touchdowns last season.  Booth averaged 78.7 yards per game and also caught 10 passes for 115 yards and one touchdown.
 
Booth led the country in the fall in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, and ranked sixth in yards per game and eighth in yards per carry.  He ran for 108 yards and a touchdown against Houston Baptist on Oct. 3 and rushed for 124 yards and scored a touchdown at No. 11 Central Arkansas on Nov. 14.
 
To be nominated for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point-average (on a 4.0 scale) for his/her career.  No athlete is eligible until he/she has reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution.
