DAYTON, Ohio – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team cruised past Wright State, 3-0, after a big second half on Sunday afternoon in Dayton.
 
With Wright State playing a player down after a red card in the 50th minute, the Colonel offense flexed its muscles.
 
Junior Myla Sharpless got the scoring started on a free kick in the 50th minute to put the Colonels up 1-0 over the Raiders.
 
EKU (4-3) kept the pressure on Wright State and took a 2-0 lead after Lucy Ream found Michaela Iacono in the box and she found the back of the net.
 
The Colonels took a 3-0 lead after Iacono played the ball into the box off a corner kick and Hope Evans connect for her second goal of the season.
 
Wright State (2-4-1) could never get anything going in the second half.
 
The two teams went into the half tied, 0-0.
 
EKU out-shot the Raiders 17-9 on the contest. The Colonels had nine shots on goal compared to five for Wright State.
 
The Colonels had nine corners to Wright States two.
 
Iacono had six shots on the match, five being on frame.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Marah Krick posted her first shutout of the season and made five saves.

EKU returns home on Friday when the Colonels welcome Miami (OH) to Richmond to wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule. The match starts at 4 p.m. and will stream live on ESPN+.
