RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky will face off against its first ranked foe of the season on Saturday afternoon when the Colonels welcome No. 19 Austin Peay to
Roy Kidd Stadium.
The game will air live on ESPN+ with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Greg Stotelmyer will handle play-by-play duties with Jim Tirey serving as the analyst and Wes Chandler working as the sideline reporter. The audio broadcast will also be simulcast in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- EKU is 23-4 all-time at home against Austin Peay and 45-7 in the series against the Governors. APSU has won the last two meetings at
Roy Kidd Stadium, winning 31-24 in 2017 and 28-21 in 2019.
- The series is even over the last four meetings (2016-19), the first time that's happened since 2009-12.
- Eastern Kentucky's last win in the series came in Clarksville in 2018.
Parker McKinney came off the bench to complete 7-of-8 passes and tossed the game-winning touchdown with 4:29 to play as EKU rallied for a 17-13 victory.
- In 2019, EKU overcame an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime, but No. 25 Austin Peay came away with a 28-21 win.
THE COLONELS
- Eastern Kentucky is facing a ranked opponent for its 39th consecutive season. The Colonels have played at least one nationally-ranked team every season year since 1983.
- EKU's last win over a ranked team came on Oct. 24, 2020, when the Colonels knocked off No. 11 Central Arkansas, 31-28.

Walt Wells is facing Austin Peay for the first time as a head coach. Wells lettered at Austin Peay in 1988 and 1989.

Davion Ross returned an Indiana State pass 18 yards for a touchdown, making him the first Colonel to score on an interception return since
TJ Comstock against Tennessee Tech on Nov. 17, 2018. On the season, EKU has tallied four interceptions by four different defenders.
- Ross ranks eighth nationally in kickoff return average at 27.0 yards per return.

Dakota Allen recorded four catches for 66 yards against Indiana State, both career-high marks. Allen's previous high for receiving yards came in his first career game when he hauled in a 28-yard reception against Morehead State on Aug. 30, 2018.
- 14,173 fans attended EKU's home opener against Indiana State, making it the largest crowd at
Roy Kidd Stadium since a 2014 game against Morehead State. The crowd also gave EKU its largest home opener crowd since 2014.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Quarterback Daylen Ellis and linebacker Jack McDonald earned Ohio Valley Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors last week.
- Ellis has completed 66-of-109 passes for 898 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions this season.
- Austin Peay was picked to finish tied for second in the OVC.
- Ellis and nickelback Kordell Jackson swept the OVC Preseason Player of the Year Awards.
- APSU head coach Scotty Walden is the youngest head coach at the Division I level at age 31.
