EKU Welcomes North Florida To McBrayer Arena Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
EKU will wrap up its three-game home stand on Saturday against North Florida.
 
The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series 1-0.  The Colonels won the lone meeting between the two programs, 80-67, on Nov. 25, 2020 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
 
-  Curt Lewis had 13 points and five rebounds in the win.  Cooper Robb finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals.
 
-  Eastern Kentucky had 16 steals leading to 21 UNF turnovers and out-rebounded the Ospreys by 10.
 
-  Carter Hendricksen led North Florida with 20 points and added seven rebounds.
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky is 9-10 overall and 1-4 in the ASUN Conference.  The Colonels are coming off a 14-point win at home over Lipscomb (86-72).
 
-  Eastern Kentucky had 21 assists on its first 22 made field goals against Lipscomb.  The Colonels finished the game with 26 assists on 31 field goals.
 
-  Tariq Balogun went 6-for-6 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line on his way to a career-best 16 points against Lipscomb.  His six made field goals were also a career-high.  His previous scoring best was 13.  Balogun also had a season-high five rebounds against Lipscomb.
 
-  Four Colonels rank in the top-5 in the ASUN in steals.  Jomaru Brown (1.71) leads the conference, Robb (1.68) is second, Michael Moreno (1.58) is fourth, and Braxton Beverly (1.50) is tied for fifth.
 
-  The Colonels are ranked second in the nation in steals (210), third in steals per game (11.05/game), fourth in turnovers forced (18.68) and fourth in turnover margin (+6.11).
 
-  Beverly had 13 assists and had no turnovers against Lipscomb.  He is first in the ASUN in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.36).
 
-  The Colonels knocked down 16 three-pointers against Lipscomb.  Eastern Kentucky is third in the NCAA with 12.26 three's per game.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  North Florida is 4-15 this season and 0-5 in ASUN Conference games.  The Ospreys will be playing their fourth game in eight days.   
 
-  UNF lost to Jacksonville (54-51) last Saturday, Kennesaw State (62-60) on Monday and Florida State (86-73) on Thursday.
 
-  Jose Placer leads the team in scoring (12.9 ppg) and assists (2.7 apg).  The 6-foot-1 sophomore guard has made 40 percent of his shots from the field, but just 26 percent from long range (23-of-90).
 
-  Hendricksen is North Florida's second leading scorer (11 ppg) and second leading rebounder (4.5 rpg).  The 6-foot-7 junior forward from Mt. Sterling, Kentucky has taken more 3-point attempts (112) than anyone else on the team.  Jadyn Parker, a 6-foot-10 freshman forward, averages a team-high 4.9 rebounds while scoring 8.2 points per game.
 
-  As a team, UNF has averaged 67 points while allowing 72 this season.  The Ospreys are hitting on 41 percent from the field and 34 percent from behind the arc.  Their opponents are shooting 44 percent overall and 33 percent from long range.  North Florida has been out-rebounded by 6.6 boards per game and commits an average of 15 turnovers per contest.
 
-  Jarius Hicklen, a 6-foot-3 sophomore guard, led all players with 27 points against Florida State on Thursday.  He hit 8-of-16 from the field, including 6-of-12 from 3-point range.  Placer and Hendricksen did not play against FSU.  Placer has missed two straight games.
